Events Director for Mashable

Brett Petersel is an entrepreneur, educator, and technology enthusiast. Currently, he is the Events Director for Mashable and a partner with the New York-based company NextWeb, whose events include the popular Lunch 2.0 and NY Web 2.0 Meetup. He also created the popular TechKaraoke and recently launched eBusinessCards.com, an online stationery store specializing in both raised print and full-color stationery items.

Previously, Brett held positions at/with Atlantic Records, Digital Hardcore Recordings, Medium, and Condé Nast Publications. He also created a record label, Architecture Records, which specializes in all formats of electronic music, and has been featured in a number of music-related magazines, such as Alternative Press, Industrial Nation, Terrorizer, and OutBurn. He has also been recognized for his involvement within the New York tech community by Leveraging Ideas (Big Ballers in Social Media - Ranked #2, 2007) and Silicon Alley 100 People to Know - Ranked #8, 2007)

 


PANEL CO-MODERATOR :: OZ SULTAN

Digital Strategist

Oz Sultan is a seasoned technology and digital marketing executive who has built and advised Fortune 1000 Companies across CPG, Automotive, Lifestyle, Media, entertainment and financial verticals over the past 15 years. Previously, Oz ran digital online for Transworld Entertainment; managed portions of Microsoft passport and messenger; led an emerging technology practice at Sapient and directed web 2.0 projects for the Economist Intelligence Unit. 


Over the course of his career, Oz has also advised and built over 25 startups within media, luxury and entertainment sectors.

More recently, Oz has returned to consulting where he advises Beauty, Luxury, Media, Entertainment and Publishing clients on client engagement, new technology (social media) trends and interactive marketing projects. Oz also serves as Co-founder of NExtweb a technology networking + event organization that holds technology and social communication focused events in NYC, Philadelphia, DC and Boston.


PANELIST :: BRANDON BERGMARK

VP Sales, West Coast, Photobucket

Brandon Bergmark oversees regional sales at Fox Interactive Media’s Photobucket, the premier site on the Internet for uploading, finding, and sharing digital media to over 3.2 million domains monthly, making it the visual hub of the social networking world. Prior to joining Fox Interactive, Brandon ran sales for NBC Digital in the pacific-northwest, and over a seven year period at AOL, he held executive marketing, sales, business development roles. Back when ‘social networking’ would have meant meeting up at a bar after work, Brandon held sales positions at Fox Networks, MGM Television, and Cox Broadcasting.

 

 

PANELIST :: JOE HYRKIN

VP of Sales & Business Development, Gaia Online

Joe Hyrkin has more than 15 years of experience in senior sales and business development management both domestically and internationally. At Gaia, Joe oversees all revenue including virtual goods, advertising and merchandize as well as all Business Development efforts including strategic partnerships, and distribution. He has pioneered business models that create some of the best brand and consumer engagement on the web.

Prior to Gaia Online, Joe headed up the business side of Multimedia Search at Yahoo!, where he also served as head of Business Development and Sales for Flickr.

 

 

PANELIST :: LISA MARINO

VP of Sales, RockYou!

Lisa Marino is the VP of Sales for RockYou leading all brand sales initiatives for the company. Prior to RockYou Lisa was the National Sales Manager for eBay Motors calling on all major automotive OEMs as well as their franchise dealers. Prior to eBay, Lisa co-founded Cima Systems, a leading fixed operations CRM provider for auto dealers. Lisa started her career in Silicon Valley as a technology M&A investment banker for Montgomery Securities. She earned her MBA from Stanford University School of Business and a BS in Finance from the Wharton School.

 

 

 

PANELIST :: TED MURPHY

Founder & CEO, IZEA

Edward “Ted” Murphy is an energetic, creative individual with a passion for innovation and zeal for change. A serial entrepreneur, Ted has founded six companies since 1994 and has a reputation for disruptive creativity.

Ted founded interactive agency MindComet, the company that created PayPerPost under his direction. PayPerPost was spun out of MindComet in 2006 and later became IZEA.

Ted is largely recognized as the father of paid blogging and the catalyst behind the sponsored conversation industry. Under his leadership the IZEA network has attracted over 265,000 bloggers and 25,000 advertisers and continues to grow.

 


PANELIST :: ROBERT PALMA

SVP of Sales, CafeMom

Robert is responsible for growing the company's revenues. In his role, he leads CafeMom's national sales efforts, building relationships and working closely with the best brands and agencies in the world. Robert also trains, manages, and supports the rapidly growing sales team.

Prior to joining CafeMom in 2008, he was Regional Vice President of Sales of MySpace, and prior to that he was a District Sales Manager at Microsoft's MSN Property. Robert holds a BA in Finance from Iona College. He lives in Long Island with his wife and son.

Head of Sales & Ad Operations, Digg

As Head of Sales & Ad Operations at Digg, I am leading Digg's advertising sales strategy and building the ad sales organization.

Digg is the largest social news website with over 35 million users who surface the best stuff as voted on by our users across all topics including politics, business, entertainment, everyday news, technology, odd news, images and videos. 

I joined Digg after 7.5 years at Yahoo where I was Executive Director of Sales for the Northwest. Prior to sales at Yahoo, I helped design online ad products on Y! Mail, Messenger, and My Yahoo! Prior to Yahoo, I spent 8 years on the client and agency side, marketing both online and offline. 

I'm excited to help advertisers connect with this incredibly active Digg community. What's most refreshing to me is how Digg is embracing online advertising in innovative ways... asking what if?
